Ergon Biokork GP-1 are bicycle grips designed and manufactured by Ergon. These grips are modified by SideStix to make them compatible with SideStix forearm crutches.

These grips provide excellent ergonomics and comfort for the hand. Anti-bacterial and hypoallergenic, cork makes an ideal grip material. During use, the cork surface naturally wears away resulting in an average grip life of 6-9 months.

Sizing Guide: Measure across your hand with your fingers and thumb spread wide apart – from tip of your thumb to the tip of your pinky finger. If the measurement is 8″ or below, then SMALL is probably preferred. If the measurement is above 8″, then LARGE may be best.

In 1988 I became a leg amputee and as a prosthesis was never an option, I became totally reliant on crutches for mobility. Up to May 2015, I used multiple types of crutches and I found all cracked under the pressure of my mobility. Living in Melbourne Australia I found Side Stixs over the internet and bought a pair not sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised with the comfort of the Biokork Grip. Up till then the skin on the heal of my hand was blistered or was the site of open wounds. With the new grips this problem disappeared. After 2 to 3 years most of the cork wore away however the rubber part of the grip remained intact. In Christmas 2019 I tried replacing the grips. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND USERS SERVICE THEIR GRIPS EVERY THREES MONTHS eg remove the grips from the rod and wash clean the surfaces. I never serviced the grips and after 5 years they were welded onto the aluminium rods and required machinery cutting to break the seals. The metal rods remained intact. I have found the Side Stixs incredibly sturdy, functional and safe on slippery floors.
